Alden-Conger Drama Department is a vital part of the school with productions averaging a cast of 15-25 for fall dramas and 30-55 for spring musicals. Auditions are open to any student in grades 6-12. If a particular show has roles for younger students, a note will be sent home with elementary students. The following crews are also available to join for each production: tech crew, set crew, stage crew, and hair/makeup crew. Set crew meets 3-4 times, usually on a weekend, to paint and prepare scenery and set items. The other crews are needed 1-2 weeks before the show. See a director to sign up.
Auditions for the fall drama take place in mid-September for the early November performance. Auditions for the spring musical take place in mid-December for the early March performances. Dramas done in the past have been Big Bad, Baby Talk, As the Bard Turns, Old Folks Home, An Inconvenient Corpse, Dickens' A Christmas Carol, Strange Boarders, Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen, A Family Reunion to Die For, Is There a Doctor in the House?, and The Ransom of Miss Elverna Dower. Musicals done in the past have been South Pacific, Oklahoma, Grease, Cinderella, Legally Blonde, The Sound of Music, Once Upon a Mattress, Annie, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.
Ada Theusch serves as director. Tara Roberts serves as assistant director. Choreographers hired in the past to assist with musicals have been Dylan Kaercher and Hannah Horejsi. Many family and community members assist with costumes and set items. Drama Mamas and Drama Dads organize refreshments and serve at intermission of the performances.
In the school building, the A-C Drama bulletin board is located on the bulletin board between the music and agriculture rooms. Cast members in a current show should check the drama bulletin board every day for changes and updates. Thank you!
