Hi, my name is Pamela Koenen. I live on an acreage south of Alden with my husband Duane.  We have three adult children - Kayla, Cody and Tyler, a wonderful daughter-in-law Cheyenne and two adorable grandsons - Oliver and Knox.  We enjoy spending time together whenever their busy schedules allow but, especially during deer hunting season.

I began teaching at Alden-Conger in 1991.  Since then the agricultural education program and FFA chapter have undergone many  changes and seen much growth.  Elective courses offered include:  Basic Electricity, Fish & Wildlife Management, Large Animal Science, Small Animal Science, Horticulture and Natural Resource Science.  Through a partnership with Riverland Community College, I am able to offer students concurrent credits in:  Agronomy, Soil Science, Food Science, Advanced Animal Science, Intro to Agribusiness Management, Employment Search Skills and Workplace Human Relations. Our FFA chapter has around 70 members who participate in career development events (CDEs), leadership development events (LDEs), exhibiting at county and state fairs and more.  

Since 2012, I have been the coach of the school’s very successful clay target team.  The team participates in the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League.  This spring there are 30 student athletes in grades 6-12 on the team.  Our team participates in both fall and spring leagues. 

I truly believe the most important thing I do as a teacher is provide students with opportunities and encourage them to take advantage of those opportunities. As an educator, I have the ability to challenge my students and help them acquire skills that will be valuable and useful, not only in the classroom, but in life. 

When I am not busy with FFA and trap shooting I enjoy crocheting, gardening, baking and spending time with family.
